Breaking news -- reports of the Senate cancelling Columbus Day Recess!
In the wake of the late night work going on with health reform, Senator Reid has announced the Sentors will not head home for the usual Columbus Day district work period. This is heartening, and is a good sign that the Senate remains serious about health reform -- remaining in Washington for floor debate instead of heading home for the October 12th federal holiday.
For those of you closely following the fast moving debate in the Senate, you know that the public option amendments in the Senate Finance Committee failed yesterday. However, what may have gotten lost in the soundbytes is that the most conservative committee in the Senate mustered 10 votes for the popular measure.
