2018 Election

As we have seen over the past 20 months, elections have consequences - to the very lives of those that we care for. Yet in many of our minds, there is no doubt that this November's election is the most important election in many of our lifetimes. The welfare of our patients, rollbacks of key public health and social justice programs, even our very democratic institutions and values are at stake. Taking away coverage, trauma from Executive immigration policy and the opportunity costs of not implementing commonsense health policies that would have saved lives and reduced suffering do real harm to the health of our patients. And that is not to even mention efforts of disinformation, assaults on the free press, propagation of anti-scientific policy-making, gerrymandering, voter ID laws, voter registration purges, census-rigging, enabling violent bigotry, and more.

Recently an informal collaboration allies in this fight, like-minded physician-based organizations such as Progressive Doctors/On Call For Democracy, American Medical Student Association (AMSA), National Physicians Alliance (NPA), National Medical Association (NMA), American Medical Women's Association and more, have come together to engage all of our respective members and unite efforts to amply our voices. Below are a few ways you can get involved.
