Food as Health

Doctors for America believes that doctors must lead the charge in addressing major barriers to our patients' health -- one of which is food insecurity. Many patients struggle with food insecurity, though often don't share this struggle with their health care provider. Understanding patients' food access situations and supporting them with connections to nutritious food can be an important part of your treatment plan to prevent or manage illness. That is why DFA has launched a Food as Health Campaign, led by Rita Nguyen, Isabel Chen and Rebecca Parad, to encourage doctors to ask patients about food insecurity and connect them with resources.
