The healthcare law includes specific measures to address women's health. Here are some specific provisions geared towards women:
- Prohibits insurance companies from categorically charging higher monthly premiums for women than for men.
- Mandates that insurance companies provide free preventive screenings for mammograms, in order to screen against breast cancer and cervical cancer.
- Mandates that insurance companies provide free contraception, birth control, breast pumps, as well as increase access to needed immunizations such as the HPV vaccine.
