DOCTOR CALL IN DAY PUSHES FOR REFORM
Voices of doctors, physician coalitions comes through loud and clear
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Doctors for America joined a coalition of physician groups and pro-health reform organizations by urging its members to raise their voices for reform. The various coalitions who are pushing for reform bills to move forward in Congress, including the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, American Medical Student Association the National Physicians Alliance, and the Committee of Interns and Residents.
“Physician groups of all sizes and specialties remain committed to the principle that all Americans should have access to quality care and affordable insurance coverage while preserving choice in our health care system,” said Dr. Vivek Murthy of Doctors for America. “This is an unprecedented push by physicians in support of health reform. From the statement of support signed by organizations representing more than half a million physicians to the House bill endorsement issued by the AMA, physicians across the country are making it known that they want real health reform that will improve the lives of patients.”
“In the coming weeks, Doctors for America will continue to work to support Congress and the President’s strong statements in favor of reform for the nation’s health care system this year, and urge our fellow physicians groups to do the same,” Dr. Murthy added.
Doctors for America is a grassroots group of over 13,000 physicians with a presence in all fifty states committed to passing meaningful health reform legislation. The group works to convey the ideas and experiences of physicians in order to achieve reform that provides high quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans.
