DOCTORS FOR AMERICA STATEMENT ON CONFIRMATION OF SURGEON GENERAL VIVEK MURTHY

Washington, D.C. – Doctors for America issued the following statement on the confirmation of DFA President and co-founder, Dr. Vivek Murthy, as U.S. Surgeon General.

Statement from Doctors for America Chair Mona Mangat:

“We congratulate U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on his confirmation by the Senate. We are confident Dr. Murthy will embrace his new role with the same passion and vision that he has employed over the last twenty years to improve the health of communities at home and abroad.

“Dr. Murthy’s dedication for improving the health outcomes by engaging communities has been the backbone of his career and is the foundation on which he based Doctors for America, a movement of 16,000 physicians and medical students nationwide. And, it is the same approach we are certain he will bring to this new role to build health initiatives across the country to address the nation’s most pressing public health challenges.”
