Doctors for America Virginia State Director Dr. Chris Lillis issued the following statement applauding Gov. Terry McAuliffe's move to expand access to healthcare in the face of inaction by the House of Delegates.
Dr. Chris Lillis, Virginia State Director of Doctors for America:
“Physicians across Virginia applaud Governor McAuliffe’s ten-step plan, A Healthy Virginia, which will improve the lives of more than 200,000 Virginians. This is a step in the right direction and underscores the Governor’s commitment to ensuring that every Virginian has access to the quality, affordable healthcare they need and deserve.
“It’s time for the General Assembly to stop kicking the can down the road and provide the leadership needed to close the coverage gap for 400,000 Virginians. The stakes are too high for Virginia to continue to turn away billions of our own taxpayer dollars while hundreds of thousands of our hardest working low income citizens go without care. Republican states across the country are moving to expand access to healthcare because they know it is good medicine for patients and good business for the state. It’s time for Speaker Bill Howell and the House of Delegates to take action.”
