DOCTORS FOR AMERICA STATEMENT ON OHIO CONTROLLING BOARD DECISION TO MOVE FORWARD WITH MEDICAID EXPANSION
Washington, DC -- Doctors for America Executive Director Alice Chen and Don Nguyen of Doctors for America Ohio today issued the following reactions on the Controlling Board’s vote to move forward with Medicaid Expansion.
Dr. Alice Chen, Executive Director of Doctors for America:
“We applaud Gov. John Kasich for joining with governors across the country to expand Medicaid for the low-income adults in Ohio who would otherwise fall into the coverage gap. This decision ensures Ohio can take full advantage of the resources put forward by the federal government. Most importantly, the move puts some 275,000 Ohioans closer to a healthier, more financially secure future – free from the fear of unaffordable health care.”
Dr. Don Nguyen, State Director of Doctors for America Ohio:
“This is a win-win for all Ohioans. Medicaid expansion has been proven to save lives and will alleviate doctors and hospitals from the burden of providing uncompensated care. It will also provide $12 billion of economic relief over 6 years, along with providing additional jobs to the state of Ohio in the health care sector.”
