Washington, DC – Doctors for America released the following statement in response to the President’s State of The Union address.
Statement from Doctors for America Chair Dr. Mona Mangat:
“Tonight President Obama echoed what millions of newly insured Americans across the country know: the Affordable Care Act is working. Stronger consumer protections and free preventive care under the ACA mean millions of Americans are on a path toward a healthier, more financially secure future – free from the fear of unaffordable health care. But we know there is still much work to be done to help the 4.8 million working poor who can’t get covered because 24 Governors and state legislatures refuse to expand Medicaid. For these people, and the millions more who qualify for the new health benefits now available but don’t know it, doctors will keep working to educate communities across the country because we know coverage is good medicine.”
