Doctors for America Statement on Start of Open Enrollment
Washington, D.C. – Doctors for America today issued the following statement on the opening of the Health Insurance Marketplace, which marks the beginning of open enrollment.
Statement from Doctors for America Executive Director Alice Chen:
“Today the barriers to quality, affordable health care have been lifted for millions of Americans who have long been denied access. The uninsured are one step closer to a healthier, more financially secure future – free from the fear of unaffordable health care.
“While we celebrate this historic moment, we know there is still much work to be done to ensure every American who is eligible signs up in the Marketplace.
“Doctors know coverage is good medicine. We know the stakes are high for the 50 million Americans who are uninsured. That’s why our 16,000 physicians in all 50 states will be reaching out through town halls, trainings and community events to spread the word about the benefits available during open enrollment, and help people find the plan that best fits their needs. We won’t let up until we get America covered.
