Doctors for America Supports FDA in Banning Youth Use of E-Cigarettes

Doctors for America issued the following statement applauding the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a finalized rule restricting sales of e-cigarettes to people under the age of 18.

Statement from Doctors for America Executive Director Dr. Alice Chen:

"Doctors and medical students across the country applaud the FDA for taking steps to protect young people from the dangers of e-cigarettes and other tobacco products including cigars and hookah. We have seen with alarm the rising rates of youth e-cigarette use. We cannot afford to have more kids get addicted to nicotine and be exposed to the many unregulated chemicals in e-cigarettes today.
"We take care of too many patients who are suffering from their addiction to tobacco, who are struggling every day with lung cancer, throat and mouth cancer, heart disease, emphysema.  We must do all we can to keep youth from using tobacco and risking addiction - including e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookah.  Today's rule is an important step in the right direction."
