WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Doctors for America’s members in Virginia released a letter expressing outrage at Virginia Attorney General Cuccinelli’s lawsuit to block implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. More that 150 Virginia physicians signed a letter stating the lawsuit will harm their patients by delaying much needed funding to community health centers, medical schools who train doctors, and physicians who treat the under-served in Virginia.
“The new health reform law extends health insurance to millions, reins in abuses by insurance companies for those with insurance and provides much needed funding to Community Health Centers,” said Dr. Chris Lillis of Fredericksburg. “Attorney General Cuccinelli lawsuit puts politics before the health of Virginians.”
In Virginia, 131 health centers are eligible for federal aid provided by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Doctors for America is a grassroots group of over 16,000 physicians with a presence in all fifty states committed to building a better health care system through reform.
