ACA vote delayed

By Scott Poppen, MD MPA

Big news! Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has announced there will be NO vote to repeal the ACA this week. This means our efforts are paying off. However, we know this fight is far from over.

The Senate is breaking for the July Fourth recess. We need to use the pressure this week, and heading into recess, to continue to ensure every Senator knows where the medical and public health community stands.

Here’s what you can do to take action over recess:

As Congress goes home to their districts, we will be there to remind them of the deadly consequences of taking health coverage away from 22 million patients, making devastating cuts to Medicaid, increasing consumer costs and eliminating vital protections. We will tell them this bill is bad for patients and cannot be fixed.

Thank you to everyone who traveled to DC, met with Senators, made calls, mobilized online or took action in your communities. Together, we are making a difference.

Let’s keep up the pressure in the days ahead and keep fighting for our patients.

In solidarity,

Scott Poppen, MD MPA
