CBO: 22 million lose health care under Senate Bill

The Senate version of a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act is out and the report from the Congressional Budget Office is in. Under the Senate proposal, the CBO confirms 22 million patients would lose their health coverage. Doctors and medical students know that health care repeal will mean cutting coverage for millions, making devastating cuts to Medicaid, increasing consumer costs and eliminating vital protections. This is fundamentally unacceptable.

Doctors, medical students and health advocates have spoken at a national White Coat Fly-in Day in Washington, DC, through calls, at rallies in Ohio and Illinois and events across the country. Our outreach is working!

As we near a Senate vote, we need to keep up the pressure to ensure this bill doesn't become law in the next few weeks. Phones need to be ringing all day, every day!

Call 202-224-3121 and tell elected officials to vote “no” on ACA repeal and any proposal that:

  • Ends Medicaid expansion at any point in time
  • Destroys the Medicaid program as we know it by changing the structure through per capita caps or block grants
  • Increases the number of people without health insurance
  • Undermines the consumer protections put in place by the Affordable Care Act
