DOCTORS FOR AMERICA APPLAUDS SENATE BILL
Bill is the prescription for real reform
WASHINGTON, DC—Doctors for America applauded the bill announced today by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee as a prescription for real reform for America’s health care system. The provisions that address insurance disparity, wellness and prevention, and payment reform are some of the health system components doctors have described as most in need of improvement.
“Doctors across the country have told us that our health care system must be fixed so we can take better care of our patients. By addressing some of the most glaringly inadequate aspects of our health care system, the Senate HELP Committee’s proposal offers hope to doctors and patients who want reform this year,” said Dr. Vivek Murthy of Doctors for America.
“Despite efforts to slow the process through a laundry list of amendments, the Committee and its members should be applauded for producing a well crafted proposal that could impact our nation’s health care system for generations to come,” Dr. Murthy added.
Doctors for America is a grassroots group of over 13,000 physicians with a presence in all fifty states committed to passing meaningful health reform legislation. The group works to convey the ideas and experiences of physicians in order to achieve reform that provides high quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans.
