Washington, DC -- Doctors for America released the following statement in response to the announcement the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case of Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby stores.
Statement from Doctors for America Executive Director Dr. Alice Chen:
“As physicians on the frontlines of healthcare delivery, we believe medical decisions should be made between doctors and their patients. Healthcare decisions are deeply personal and should be made free from outside interference.
“The Affordable Care Act is finally ensuring that patients are covered for essential benefits, including preventive care for the first time. This move has been vital to increasing access for millions and it must not be taken away or put in jeopardy by employers who seek to deny care for their employees.
“Doctors believe that employers should provide basic care to all of their employees, regardless of their personal beliefs because coverage is good medicine.”
